Do You Smell Your Loofah?

Do you smell your loofah??? I DO!!!

When using regular soap products, we really don’t know all of the ingredients that make up those sweet smelling scents, do we. That is, of course, unless we read the fine print beforehand.

When I create and use my own bath and hand soaps, I know what I’m getting. With just a few simple ingredients, I’m ready to experience the smells of nature…the natural way. LoofaDuring a shower or simply washing my hands, I reap more good than just cleanliness. Oh, yes! I get the healthy benefits of the essential oil (or oils) I put in that little bottle! Not only am I putting better product on my skin, I am breathing in the helpful properties of the oil.

I use Lavender for calming, Spearmint to boost my immune system, and Wild Orange to uplift my mind and body. Each new blend I make has it’s own scent and benefit, and I continuously change it up! I enjoy having fun with my recipes.

One of my favorite blends:

8 oz. glass pump bottle or food-grade plastic

1/2 cup unscented Castile soap

4 Tbsp. Vegetable glycerin

3 Tbsp. Fractionated Coconut Oil

10 drops of Spearmint, Lavender, or Wild Orange (I tend to add a few more drops for a stronger scent)

HINT: Many times, I will split the essential oils and make my own blend. For instance, I may use all three (3-5 drops each) of the above in one recipe; giving me a new scent with more added benefits!

Make note, not all recipes are the same. Some offer a thicker consistency, leaving a protective lotion-feel to your skin; like you’ve used one of those in-shower moisturizers on the market today. Other blends are lighter and quickly slide off your body. It all depends on the goal, and everyone has their own preference for what works for them.

The key is you aren’t using harsh chemicals to clean the most important thing in the house….You! Whatever your preference in soaps, you, too, can create your own blends based on what works for your life and well-being. IMG_3056
